ABOUT US

Officially formed in May 2013 with Dudley Performing Arts (DPA) as the lead partner the Black Country Dance Hub (BCDH) was built on 10 years of dance development from 2003 with DPA. The ambition of BCDH was to expand dance further across the sub-region providing greater opportunity and an equal dance provision for children and young people across all 4 Black Country areas.

In 2015 BCDH moved to Walsall Arena & Arts Centre (formerly Forest Arts Centre) and became an Independent Voluntary Organisation in 2016 and a Limited Company in 2020.

From 2016

BCDH has developed a Professional Dance Programme

Introducing a regular professional dance performance programme, creating new audiences for Contemporary Dance with wrap around education packages and curtain-raisers experiences. BCDH leads on bringing professional dance companies to the venue and placing them in schools, colleges and the community, working alongside children and young people to create a new dance culture at the venue, and attracting new audiences of all ages from the Black Country and the wider West Midlands.
